Write “My name is ______________.” on the board. Translate (Мене звати…) for the students. Have each student tell his/her name.
Then, go around the room again, asking each student to repeat the first sentence again, and tell his/her age (Скільки вам років?) by answering “I am _________years old.” Write this model sentence on the board.
Finally, go around the room for the last time and ask students where they live (Де ви живете?) and have them answer using “I am from…” (Я з…) Write this on the board as well.
·         Chalkboard or white board
·         Chalk or markers
10 minutes
Using colored paper of red, yellow, or orange, give each student one half of a sheet of paper. Have the students trace their hands. Then have them write:
My name is ____________.
I am ____________.
I live in ________________.

Have students cut out their hands (with wrists). Collect the hands. The hands will now become the “leaves” on the English Club tree. Glue the hands to the branches of the tree so each student knows he/she is now a part of the English Club!

·         Colored paper (red, yellow, or orange)
·         Brown paper for “tree”
·         Markers
·         Glue
15 minutes
Gather students in a large circle; using the paper ball, toss back and forth asking students questions:
What is your name?
How old are you?
Where are you from?

Students must answer in complete sentences using the English they have just learned. If time allows, watch Gogo cartoon: #2 What’s His Name
